On April 22nd Assistance League of Southwest Washington hosted our 3rd Annual Spring Shopping Event, helping 80 kids in foster care (ages 10-19) shop for clothing and shoes that reflect their personal style while meeting their everyday needs.
Children and teens participating in the program are referred by their social workers and attend alongside their foster parents, creating a supportive and uplifting experience for all involved.
Twenty of our dedicated volunteers made the event possible and is, honestly, one of the highlights of our year. We can’t think of a better way to spend our time. In what has become a tradition, several of our volunteers spent many fun-filled hours sewing handled bags for each child to take home with their purchases.
The event is made possible through the ongoing partnership with Fred Meyer and its dedicated staff, who volunteer their time to support our mission.
